JAKARTA, Feb. 28 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto delivered a video address at the first national-level Chinese New Year celebration held in Jakarta on Saturday.
While extending new year greetings, Prabowo stressed that the Chinese New Year has become an important occasion reflecting Indonesia's unity in diversity.
He expressed his hope that the new year would bring blessings, health, peace, and new hope to everyone.
Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, cabinet ministers and other senior Indonesian officials, Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Wang Lutong, as well as representatives from various parts of the country, attended the celebration.
At the event, folk dances, Tai Chi, martial arts, and lion dance performances were staged.
As an important measure to promote cultural inclusion and national unity, the Indonesian government held the Chinese New Year celebration at the national level for the first time this year. ■
