BERLIN, April 20 (Xinhua) -- A total of 58 percent of people in Germany said they were at least somewhat concerned about a possible kerosene shortage, according to a YouGov survey released on Monday.
The poll found that 17 percent of respondents were very concerned about a potential shortage, while 41 percent said they were slightly or moderately concerned. By contrast, 32 percent said they were not concerned at all.
The findings come amid growing concern in Europe over fuel supply risks linked to the conflict in the Middle East. Europe could have only about six weeks of jet fuel remaining if current supply disruptions persist, International Energy Agency (IEA) Executive Director Fatih Birol warned last Thursday.
The survey also showed broad resistance to higher airfares driven by rising kerosene costs. A total of 54 percent of respondents said they would not be willing to accept more expensive airline tickets, while 14 percent said they would be prepared to pay more.
YouGov surveyed 9,912 adults in Germany between April 17 and April 19, 2026. ■
