MANAMA, March 2 (Xinhua) -- Bahrain reported its first fatality on Monday as Iran launched several waves of missile and drone attacks in the region in response to the U.S.-Israel military operation against Iran.
Bahrain's Ministry of Interior said on X: "A fire broke out on a foreign ship in Salman Industrial City as a result of falling debris from an intercepted missile."
"The fire resulted in the death of an Asian worker and serious injuries to two others. The fire has been brought under control and extinguished," the ministry added.
Warning sirens and explosions were heard following the attack.
The ministry urged citizens and residents to remain calm and head to the nearest safe place. It also asked them to use main roads only when necessary to maintain public safety and allow relevant authorities to operate efficiently.
These developments came amid escalating regional tensions. Bahraini authorities said they are closely monitoring the situation, stressing that specialized agencies are ready to address any developments to ensure the safety of citizens and residents. ■
